Q: is it possible to provide 12 volts of power to four different fans spliced into the same AC/DC adapter?
i have four 12V DC computer case fans and im wondering what type of AC/DC adapter i would need in order to be able to use the full extent of each fans power. i would need to push 12V to each fan.
A: yes, just wire them all in parallel. But you will need enough current out of the adaptor to run all 4, that is 4 times the current for one.

Q: How can I insert the AC DC AC/DC lightning bolt into my Microsoft Word document?
I have the "SQUEALER" font, but don't know how to insert the AC/DC lightning bolt between the letters. Any help?
A: Try using the asterisk or star key.

Q: How to set up a marshall mg50dfx amp to get an ac/dc tone.?
I have just bought one an i would like to know how to set it to an ac/dc tone.
A: Turn the drive up, use a guitar with humbucking pickups (such as angus' gibson sg). I don't think AC/DC uses any effects. Just play around a bit for a hard crunching rock tone.
Q: How do you fault find on ac & dc motors? What is star delta & how do you check this?
Just want to know how you check if a ac or dc motor is working. Do you just check the continuity of the coils? Star delta????
A: yes you do an ohms check on the coils and you should see a steady resistance.if the resistance is all over the place then the coil is gubbed and if the resistance is zero then you have a short somewhere in the coil.star delta is the type of starter switch used to start up the motor.
Q: where do you get ac dc shoes at or which people call it dc's?
well i was just wondering because everybody at my school has ac dc shoes wich I think is supposbly called dc's please help me!!! I need those shoes... like what stores are they in?... well for in kingsland Georgia? are they at the mall or something?

Q: What Do You Think About AC/DC's New Album, "Black Ice"?
I Love every song on it but i wanna know what other people think about it.
I also have another question!
Which Lead singer of AC/DC do you like better?
Bon Scott OR Brian Johnson????
I like Brian Johnson better but in the songs "Let There Be Rock" and "Big Balls" I like Bon Scott!
A: I love it and I love AC/DC!!!!
I love Brian Johnson and Bon Scott.
But, I have to say most of my favorite songs are with Bon.
He can never be replaced, but they could not have picked anyone better than Brian Johnson to be their lead singer.
Q: What is the difference between ac and dc current?
And why do computers for example need AC current and not DC? What's the difference?
A: The polarity of the instantaneous voltage of alternating current power goes +-+-+-+-+- as time goes on. If you plot the instantaneous voltage with time being the x axis, you get a wave: up/down/up/down etc. It's a sine wave. AC is a natural result of generating power with rotating generators. Direct current is chosen to be a certain fixed voltage, it stays at that voltage.
That's a very basic description of the difference. There was competition to see which was the better way to transmit electric power back in the 1880s. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_of_Currents
AC current won the War_of_Currents. Computers are built to have AC plugged into them because that is the kind of power that is typically available in the outlets in your house. The first thing that happens to that power is it goes into a power supply that converts the AC power to the several different values of DC power that are required by the circuitry in the computer.
Q: When you're home alone, do you crank up the AC/DC and dance in your underwear?
That's my favorite thing to do when my roommate's not home now that the new AC/DC song came out.
A: WHAT HAVE I TOLD U ABOUT PEEKING THROUGH MY WINDOW?! **geez, now i gotta put my pants back on!!**
Q: Can someone explain to me what it means to say an ac wave is "riding on a dc level"?
I was reading this electricity book and the authors stated that signals can be ac, dc, or ac riding on a dc level. What does this third waveform technology mean mean?
A: Let's say you have a 0 volt dc with a 20 volt p-p ac riding on it. You have a plus and minus 10 volts.
Next take a +5 volt DC and apply a 20 volt ac. You have plus 15 and minus 5 volts.
Then take a 20 volt DC an put 10 volts on it. Now you have plus 30 and plus 10. the current no longer reverses direction.
look at the examples going through a diode.
Q: where can I get some information on AC/DC Power supplies?
I need some information on the construction and working of AC/DC power supplies for a project presentation at my college. I can really use some help as there wasn't any usefull material on wikipedia. If you have any links to a site that has some information on the construction and working of a ac/dc power supply then please tell me.
A: See Resources below
***WARNING: When working with power supplies, be sure to read up on power supply safety. It is quite dangerous (possibly FATAL) to work on power supplies if you do NOT have knowledge about how to SAFELY work with power supplies***
Q: What happens if i try to measure DC voltage but the current is AC or vice versa with a multimeter?
I need to measure the voltages in a circuit but am not sure if one part is AC or DC. I fried something once by accidentally measuring DC amps but the current was AC.
A: A multimeter can measure Amps or Volts (and usually resistance). Be very careful using it to measure amps, because the meter becomes basically a short-circuit. In order to measure amps you need to break some connection in the circuit, and put the meter in series. My guess is that you measured across something, with the meter set to amps, which is a good way to fry things.
(This is why practically every meter I've seen always has the fuse blown on the current scale!)
If you are measuring an AC voltage with the meter set to read DC Volts, you will read very close to 0. If you are measuring a DC voltage with the meter set to AC, you will read something that's usually pretty close to the correct value (depends on the meter as to how accurate)
Q: Compare and contrast AC and DC. What determines which is “better” for a particular application?
Compare and contrast AC and DC. What determines which is “better” for a particular application?
A: Transmission distance. How far is the power source (generator or battery) from the consumer?
If it's electronic, then DC works better with CPU and memory oscillators.
Q: does guitar hero 3 controllers work with rock band ac dc?
I have guitar hero 3 for ps3. I wanna know if i can use the guitar to play rock band ac/dc
A: Yes they are interchangeable, except maybe the drums.
Q: Can I use an ac-dc adapter for a laptop to power a custom built jurry-rigged computer?
I'm making a computer using spare parts i have laying around, but i want it to be easily portable. I was wondering if i could
1) use a laptop's ac-dc adapter and split wires out of it and use resistors and capacitors to power the computer's components
or preferably
2)use an old laptop battery and do the same thing as before but use a battery rather than a direct wall connection, that way i wouldn 't have to plug things in to run the computer.
(if you still don't get it; i'm going to take a few wires and jam them into the end of the thing you plug into laptops to charge them (or perhaps the battery itself, if that's possible), and plug those wires into the components (fan, motherboard, usb-port, etc) on my custom-built computer, hopefully bypassing the need for a power-supply altogether.
It's not a pc power supply... how the h-e-double-hockeysticks did you come up with that? You know that brick that comes with laptops that you plug into the wall and use to power the laptop? THAT'S what i'm talking about.
Oh, sorry, mis-read your answer. They would be parts that can run at lap-top level voltages.
A: no, laptop power supplies run a different voltage than pc power supplies.
they typically run 15v or somewhere in that range. pc power supplies run 5v-+ and 12v-+
