A: Skillet skillet.com when you open up their website, one of their more well-known songs starts playing, so you can hear what they sound like. (just click on "skip intro" and it will go into the website) Theory of a Deadman- my favorite song is Bad Girlfriend http://new.music.yahoo.com/videos/TheoryOfADeadman/Bad-Girlfriend--184539012 Evanscence http://evanescence.com/audio.asp click on Fallen, that CD is better in MHO. Gretchen- gretchenland.com similar to Evanescence Black Crowes, Creed, Nickelback For 80's music, Van Halen, AC/DC (their new CD Black Ice is great), Def Leppard, Whitesnake, ZZTop. These are all based on your liking Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, and Led Zeppelin. They would be classified as Rock/Hard Rock. For something different, try Josh Groban, Paul Potts, and Amy Winehouse (her life is a trainwreck, but has a great style) Elton John and Melissa Etheridge have good love songs, not too mushy.

Q: I was a child of the 90's! Were you? Do you think the 90's was the best decade to grow up in?
I loved the 90's! Ok, I was born in 88, but I was still a "child of the 90's"! I just think the 90's were cool because it was the end of a millenium and the big finalé of the 20th Century of discovery; invention and modern life as we know it! It was the beginning of computers/Microsoft/Internet, the sort of technology we take for granted today & most of all, it was historical: the end of a millenium of evolution and discovery (electricity; technology; cars; planes; etc.) & the start of a new era and millenium - the 21st Century! Here are the top 5 reasons I'm proud to be a child of the 90's: (anyone agree?) 1) INTERNET! YAY!!! Internet was invented in 1991 & thanks to Bill Gates/Microsoft & the likes, we're online right now & will be for yrs to come! Lapotp's and Computers were officially developing in the 90's! 2) Film: Jumanji; Schindler's List; American Beauty (1999); Titanic; Edward Scissorhands; Saving Private Ryan; Ghost; My Left Foot; Pretty Woman; A Few Good Men; Forrest Gump; The Silence Of The Lambs; Basic Instinct; Groundhog Day; The English Patient; Natural Born Killers; Mrs. Doubtfire; Four Weddings and a Funeral; The Fugitive; Pulp Fiction; True Lies; Speed; Independence Day; Liar Liar; The Shawshank Redemption; Leaving Las Vegas; Interview With The Vampire; Braveheart; Tomorrow Never Dies; Mission Impossible; Golden Eye; Trainspotting; Twister; The First Wives Club; A Time To Kill; As Good As It Gets; Hook; Misery; Deep Blue Sea; Men In Black; The Lost World; There's Something About Mary; Scream; LA Confidential; Ace Ventura; Batman; Elizabath; Armageddon; The Matrix; Shakespeare In Love; Run Lola Run; The Phantom Menace; The Lion King; Eyes Wide Shut; The Sixth Sense; Sleepy Hollow; The Blair Witch Project; The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring; The Mummy & the dawn of CGI & animatronic films such as Babe; Antz; A Bugs Life & of course, Toy Story! The 90's was the birth of Special Effects as we know them today & stars such as Julia Roberts; Johnny Depp; Leonardo DiCaprio; Reese Witherspoon; Tim Burton; Kate Beckinsale; Cate Blanchett; Catherine Zeta Jones; Pierce Brosnan; Ben Stiller; Jim Carrey; Owen Wilson; Kristin Scott Thomas; Helen Hunt; Hugh Grant; Ewen McGregor; Nicole Kidman; Halle Berry; Neil Jordan; Danny Boyle; Adam Ball; Kate Winslett; Uma Thurman & Will Smith all kick-started their careers in the 90's - what a decade for Film!!! 3) Music: Tina; Jacko; Céline; Whitney; Bon Jovi; Madonna; U2; Shaniah; Garth; The Stones; Nirvana; Janet; Boys II Men; Annie Lennox; Sting; Pavarotti; Chér; Bryan Adams; Aerosmith; The Prodigy & Prince were all alive & kickin' during the 90's, with Kylie; The Spice Girls; Bjork; Justin; Mariah; Alicia; Beyoncé; Westlife; Boyzone; Robbie WIlliams; Take That; Oasis & Alanis Morissette all kicking off their careers! Songs such as Chér's "Believe"; "My Heart Will Go On" (Céline Dion/Titanic); Madonna's "Vogue"; "Live & Let Die (Guns N' Roses); "I Will Always Love You" (Whitney Houston); Elton John's "Candle In The Wind"; "That's The Way Love Goes" (Janet Jackson); "Hero" & "One Sweet Day" (Mariah Carey); Aerosmith's "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing"; "Simply The Best" (Tina Turner) & Michael Jackson's "Black Or White" were all anthems of the 90's too! 4) T.V.: FRIENDS!!!; Seinfeld; The Simpsons; Ricki Lake; Have I GOt News For You; Suddenly Susan; The Big Breakfast; E.R. & Baywatch were all born in the 90's! 5) Historical People & Events: Sydney Olympics (lead-up to it); Harry Potter; Dolly The Sheep; Riverdance; Bill & Hill; Nelson Mandella's Release; Daeth of Freddie Mercury & Kurt Cobain (R.I.P.); Birth of the DVD; Mobile/Cell Phones; Apollo Space Missions; Death of Princess Diana (R.I.P.); Collapse of the Berlin Wall; Venus & Serena; Pete Samprass; David Beckham; Tim Henman; Birth of "The Sims"; Opening of Disneyland Paris; Michael Jordan; Mount St. Helens; Tiger Woods; Cindy Crawford; Hubble Space Telescope; Reality T.V.; Opening of Channel Tunnel; The Euro; New Year's Eve 1999 & the most brazen, amazing, thrilling, stupendous & hillarious thing of the 1990's:.................................... (Drum Roll)...................................... Monica Lewinsky!!! (I mean, come on - was that huge or WHAT?!?) So, who agree's the 90's KICKED ***???

A: I was born april 8th 1989. I agree, being a 90s child was the best. I see so many kids today who are missing out on the brilliance and greatness that was the '90s! The 90s were a great time to grow up, I can't think of a better decade!!

Q: How varied is your music taste?
I consider myself a true music lover, and like all types. Anything from very light music (Dream Weaver, Kiss and say goodbye, You'll be a woman soon "I love Neil Diamond") to a little R&B (You've got it bad, In da club) some 80's (Prince songs, Lisa Lisa), little country (Neon Moon by brooks & dunn is the best), all kinds of alternative & rock, with a little metal (LOVE Sublime, Tantric-Astounded, Radiohead, Guns n roses-most songs, AC/DC-TNT, Back in black, Ride on, so tell me some songs from you wide range of music taste. Oh yeah, and one classical, I love Canon in D.

A: You've got some good stuff. I've recently begun to get into Indian music but before that I had: Classical (Tchaikovsky) R&B (Keyshia Cole, JoJo) Rap/Hip-Hop (The Notorious B.I.G.) Pop (Crash Test Dummies) Soundtracks (Waiting To Exhale, Cats) Screamo (blessthefall) Heavy Metal (Stereomud, Metallica) Metal (Linkin Park) Kids (Sesame Street) Video Games (Sonic) Jazz (Patti Austin, Alice Coltrane, Miles Davis) Blues (Nina Simone, John Coltrane) Alternative (Björk) Dance (Ten City) House (Ultra Nate) Celtic (Clannad) Japanese (Keiko Matsui, Kazumi Watanabe, Sadao Watanabe) Hindi (Bhatki, Vibha Sharma) I've probably left out a few genres... Let's hook up.

Q: Queen Greatest Band ever?
Queen has to sum as the greatest band ever, you got to agree. you might not say an argue against and say the beatles, but hey Queen can argue back why? As of 2005, according to The Guinness Book of World Records, Queen albums have spent a total of 1,322 weeks or twenty-seven years on the United Kingdom album charts; more time than any other musical act including The Beatles and Elvis Presley.[75] Also in 2005, with the release of their live album with Paul Rodgers, Queen moved into third place on the list of acts with the most aggregate time spent on the British record charts.[76] In 2006, the Greatest Hits album was found to be the United Kingdom's all-time best selling album, with sales upwards of 5,407,587 copies, over 604,295 more copies than its nearest competitor, The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Their Greatest Hits II album came in seventh with sales upwards of 3,631,321 copies.[77] One of rock's most successful, influential and popular acts, the band has released a total of eighteen number one albums, eighteen number one singles, and ten number one DVDs worldwide making them one of the world's best-selling music artists. Their total record sales have been estimated at over 300 million worldwide[78] including 32.5 million in the United States[79] alone as of 2004. The band is also the only group in which every member has composed more than one chart-topping single.[80] Also, on January 2007, it was announced that Queen's Greatest Hits I & II was the most downloaded album on iTunes in the US. Queen was very famous and is still today with most songs still play today, and they still are getting awards.. Some of the musicians that have cited the band as an influence include: Anthrax, Van Halen,[54] Ben Folds Five,[55]Blind Guardian,[56] Kurt Cobain,[57] Def Leppard,[58] Extreme,[59] The Killers,[60] Foo Fighters, Green Day,[61] Guns N' Roses,[62]Helloween,[63]Iron Maiden,[64]Judas Priest,[64]Kansas,[65] Manic Street Preachers,[66] Metallica,[67] Mika,[68] Radiohead,[69] The Smashing Pumpkins,[70][71] Styx, [72] and Katy Perry [73]; amongst others. even they influenced John lennon into his solo career with queen's song "Crazy Little Thing Called Love", played in a 50s rockabilly style. so do u think Queen is greatest band ever? they were certainly the greatest live band ever. (best live gig ever was Queen's performance for Live Aid in 1985).

A: I may have to agree with you. I mean whose song is known all over the world? That unforgettable "boom, boom CLAP!". Freddie Mercury is possiblely the greatest front man ever. I wasn't born in their time but I've listened religiously to songs, watched many interviews, and watched numerous amounts of live shows to know that they are the greatest band ever. I mean sure everyone knows the beatles...you can see 3rd graders with little tote bags with the abbey road cover on it but you can't possibly think they actually know who the beatles are. So, in conclusion, yes, I think Queen was the greatest band ever.

Q: please take my 80'S MUSIC SURVEY!!!!?
lionel richie or bobby brown new kids on the block or new edition tina turner or whitney houston which film had better music: fast times at ridgemont high or the breakfast club michael jackson hits: thriller, beat it, or billie jean we are the world: love it or still sick of it hall & oates or the police mc hammer or ll cool j poison, warrant, skid row, or guns n roses which 80's event was more significant to music: the rise of mtv or the introduction of compact discs BONUS: OF ALL YOUR CHOICES, WHO WOULD YOU SEE LIVE IF YOU COULD?

A: Lionel Richie-He's more REFINED and CLASSIER than Bobby Brown, no offense to any fans New Edition-I liked Candy Girl-Bobby Brown, I have to say was better in his youth than he is now...(I don't know too many NKOTB songs, I think) TINA, FO' SHO'! More PIZAZZ, better JOINTS, although I noticed that both, when they were popular in the 80s; some of their pics LOOKED ALIKE! Weird! lol They looked like each other! See for yourself! The Breakfast Club Beat It...beat it...noone wants to be defeated... I like We Are The World. I wanna see him, too. That'd be interesting... Some of the rock bands, too...

Q: Does anyone else miss the 90's?
I was born in the early 80's so I practically lived throughout the 90's. I couldn't remember much about the 80's for I was still little but I spent my childhood and teenagehood in the 90's and to me, those were the greatest years. I was mostly fond of its music. The 90's music was so much better than the 00's IMO. I mean, let's take a look: - During this time, the music industry still gave big emphasis on the talents, voice, and music; and not so much on the image and physical appearance. These days, most pop stars only care about their image, videos and how they’re gonna dress themselves on the red carpet. - The 90's was also the decade when the “divas” still ruled. - Whitney Houston was still sober. - Mariah Carey was still the sweet girl-next-door and her voice was still in top shape, unlike now where she tends to whisper a lot. Back then, she could sing pop ballads like no one could. Now, she tends to sing hip-hop. - Honestly, I like Madonna better in this era rather than today. - The overall bands of the 90’s I still like better than the ones in the 00’s. - Guns n' Roses were still together and Axl Rose was not as creepy as today. - Nirvana and Kurt Cobain was still around (well, in the early 90's that is). - Not to mention all the other great bands of the 90's like the Smashing Pumpkins, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden etc. Sorry but I don't really like emo bands/singers of today. - Michael Jackson was still on top of his game (well, at least in the early 90's too). - The Disney's shows were still good and not as crappy as today. There were no JoBros or Miley or High School Musical etc. - And eventhough I never really like boys bands, but at least to me the boys bands of the 90’s were overall still better in quality than today. Hey at least back then we still had Boyz II Men and All-4-One, and they all can sang! - The rap music was still clean & the lyrics were deep. In this decade, most rap songs have meaningful messages, e.g. life struggle, society, race equality etc. Nowadays, most rappers talk about b*tches and hos and big booty and gangsta, and the videos usually show them with bling, fur coat, fancy cars, big mansions, parties, and scantily clad babes dancing around like strippers. - The technology was still old back then, I mean there were no MP3s and/or iPod etc. But to me, that kinda gave a sense of genuineness in art, unlike today where everything is all digital. - And the biggest difference of them all is: there were NO crappy cheesy reality shows like today (urgh!) Yeah, of course there were also many cheesy pop stars in the 90’s like the Spice Girls, S Club 7, Steps, The Backstreet Boys, A1, Britney Spears, 5ive etc, but still… overall, to me this decade is still better than the 00’s. Even I still like the 80’s, 70’s and/or 60's better than today. What do you think? And is there any of you who miss the 90’s too (or perhaps the decades before the 90’s)? Of course, this is not to say that I live in the past. I mean, I'm moving forward too with my life just like anybody else and I still can enjoy myself today. But if I have to choose between the 90's or the 00's (in terms of music, that is), I would definitely go for the 90's (or even the decades before the 90's). Ha ha, Ms. Chick! Thank you for your answer. Yes I perfectly understand what you mean. Most people in the past would usually berate the current era. Like my mom who always felt nostalgic about the 60s and 70s. To her, those were the best years of her life. And throughout the 90's when I was enjoying the era, she kept saying that things could never be like in the old days anymore (specifically the 60's and 70's). And I'm sure, her parents would say the same thing too in the 60's and 70's LOL. So yes, I can totally relate to what you're saying. You are correct, Ms. Chick. I guess the reason why I really likes the 90's is because it's the era that DATES me, if you know what I mean. Sure, we have so much things to be grateful for in the 00's. And yes, I do agree with you, there are a lot of good music and great talents as well in the 00's. But somehow, the focus of the art & music has significantly changed these days. And being a 90's creature that I am, I will forever miss the 90's.

A: Of course ,the 90's kicks 00's ass anyday.

Q: What songs to play for this dance?
This weekend I have to gather music and play it for this party ran by my Mom and her friends...there bringing some music but I also have to get some too..I want music you can dance too, but the majority of the people here are going to be near the age of 50 so I don't want like rap, but older club type music...I want it to be popular so most everyone knows it...so far I've got things such as: John Scarbury - Believe It or Not DJ Sammy - California Dreamin Guns n' Roses - Sweet Child of Mine Couple Beatles songs.. Also got Outkast - Hey Ya, so songs can be newer too....I just don't want songs like 2 step, soulja boy, etc, that everyone keeps saying, remember that they have to be fairly popular... Thanks!

A: Look into Led Zepplin, Boston, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Cream, Derek and the Dominoes, Fleetwood Mac, and all that Me Generation stuff, more towards the late 70's/early 80's.

Q: I Love The 80's anyone?
the 80's....a time that (strangely) captivates my 14-year old mind. There were good things,(the creation of MTV,Guns N' Roses...) the bad things (The deaths of John Lennon,John Bohnam, and Andy Warhol,Roger Waters leaving Pink Floyd....) and the just plain ugly (not that his music really sucks that much, but Michael Jackson just scares me don't anybody take this the wrong way but after the skin color thing...)What really interest me is the movies that were made during the time...My favorites would be movies like The Breakfast Club, Ferris Buellers Day Off,Back to the Future (the first one. the second one is kinda eh... and I only like the part in the third one where Michael J. Fox is doing the moonwalk and I know the third one was made in 1990 but it counts) and The Outsiders (well, the outsiders is kinda somwhere in the middle, but if you watch the complete novel edition,it puts in an additional 20 minutes in the movie, plus the actors were kinda cute in this movie)I would mention more, but I want to get to the question which is : What is your favorite 80's movie and why? an extra to the question would be for the ladies out there who had crushes on some of the teen 80's stars like C. Thomas Howell (my favorite ;p don't tell anyone...) Patric Swayze (dang cancer) michael J Fox (dang parkinson's disease) Emilio Estevez,Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio,River Phoenix, Matt Dillon...I think you get it....

Q: Should the 1980s get into the Guinness Book Of World Records as the worst musical period of the 20th Century ?
The worst musical era of all times were the Eighties. I disliked that decade. The only good bands and artists that I liked from the Eighties are Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Europe, Guns N’Roses, Michael Jackson and Prince and that’s about it. All the best rock bands came out of the Seventies. The Seventies produced proper rock bands like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Bad Company, Trapeze, Free, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Motorhead etc (but not Evil Glitter). The Seventies were about the music, not about marketing and that was a good thing. Bands from the Sixties and Seventies cared about and were enthusiastic about the music. The Eighties were about synthesizers and poppy little sounds. Synthesizers were boring instruments because you couldn’t jump around with it like you would do with a guitar. Even worse there were all these horrible bands like the Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Depeche Mode, OMD, Kajagoogoo, Thompson Twins, Howard Jones and many similar acts in the Eighties. Then you got the Stock Aitken and Waterman nonsense, which drove me bleeding mad. They were responsible for producing cheeseball hits like Never Gonna Give You Up and I Should Be So Lucky.. The musical scene in the Eighties was a joke. You had record companies and managers who were more important than the artists. These managers acted like dictators telling you what to do like polishing your music and looking a bit. You had to live by the strict Draconian rules forever doing TV shows , playback performances and photo sessions. It was too nice and too tame. You had no control over your music because you had to play the way the manager wanted you to sound. The Eighties were backlashed against the guitar because the producer toned it down to make room for the synths. That is amongst the reason why I think the Eighties were awful. The Eighties seem to forget that the foundation of the music business is music. The Eighties were so corporate, uncaring, insensitive and thoughtless about the origins of music. You had graduates from business colleges who happened to favour commerce than art and I don’t think it was a very good thing. The Eighties is a decade not worth remembering . Yes I would love to see evryone destroy their Culture Club, Spandau Ballet, Wham and Duran Duran records and bring back the Seventies.

A: yes.
