A: That's really hard to answer, because I have mixed feelings about Metallica after all these years. I admit it, I first got into them when I heard The Black Album (I was 10.) But as I grew older, I discovered Master, Lightning, and all the other classics (...And Justice For All being my all-time favorite). They were the band that I grew up on for years, but as I got older, I discovered a sad fact: things change with time. Their disputes with Napster, their haircuts (I know it seems trivial, but it really shocked many people.) And to top it all off, St. Anger was honestly the biggest disappointment album I've ever encountered. Saying that, still, I remember what they formed in their earlier days, and take that into effect. So to answer the ultimate question, I say they did. However much they seemed to have changed, their legacy can't be outweighed by new mistakes.
